The cabin
Tessa and Terry’s 200 square foot acute scalene A-frame cabin sits within 40 acres of shared forest. Enjoy walking trails, the Birch River, and the outdoor hot tub. The cabin is in a private location 150′ from the main house, and 300′ from parking. The cabin features a queen bed in the loft, and a convertible couch. The kitchen is fully functioning with propane mini fridge and range, cookware, dishes, soap and linens. Winter water is a jug/bucket system. There is no hot water tank. Toilet is a sawdust bucket which the hosts use to create compost for their berry and fruit trees. Heated by a wood stove. Much of the cabin’s wood work, framing, and siding are made from wood salvaged from two large shipping crates. These crates, when re-assembled determined the building’s 11’x18′ footprint. Other crafty features include a home made concrete counter top and light fixture.
The location
Enjoy forested seclusion while 1.6 km from the Trans Canada Highway and 90 km from Winnipeg’s Perimeter Highway. The community of Prawda is located on the western doorstep of the Manitoba’s vast Whiteshell Provincial Park, an attraction for many of our guests. Local shopping can be found in Falcon Lake (38 km) and Elma (34 km). Tessa, Terry, and 3 year old Kit live in an Earth Ship style home.
Other things to note
Enjoy our soaker tub among the trees! Located 100 feet from the cabin bring extra footwear to get there. The tub is for exclusive use of the cabin guests, however, it is visible from the house and the playground. Please share our space! Bring your own towels. If for whatever reason the tub is unavailable guests can request a $25/night refund.
Two pairs of snowshoes are stored at the cabin for guests to use! Head into the forest or down to the river!
Some guests have experienced the beds to be on the harder side.
We have two dogs, Sparky and Ripple, who will be excited to meet you. Sparky, is a blue heeler and is well trained and follows instructions well (leave it, enough, sit, go ahead). Ripple is a puppy, and still nips.
Remember, children and dogs should never be left unsupervised.
The cabin has wi-fi.
